I was very interested to hear about Walmart’s new “social” campaign called elevenmoms.com. Since I consider myself one of the biggest advocates of authentic brand and customer interaction out there, I thought I would look at what Walmart is doing here and see if it hits the mark.
First things first: Hire a vendor that pays attention to details
Walmart, tell your web vendors to get rid of their placeholder copy! This is what I saw on one of the landing pages for the elevenmoms.com initiative:
Anyone that knows me, knows I'm not exactly Walmart's biggest fan. But I'm always thinking of what a retailer like Walmart can do to improve their image and increase traction among my demographic. Apart from the rather substantial other things I think Walmart needs to do to clean up their act, I thought I would run through a little thought experiment outlining some strategies that I think they need to implement to reach out to my demographic.
